• SAE asks its chapters and members to volunteer for public service, charities and philanthropies.

The chapter's past projects included an Adopt A Highway (Bluff Road), Balefire, Boys and Girls Clubs, Oliver Gospel MIssion, and "Run for the Cause".

SC Delta has worked in the past with the Dalton Help Foundation and with Alpha Delta Pi on "Runnning for a Cause".

  • Boys and Girls Club

As the suggestion of Mothers of Minerva officer Sherri Greenberg, the chapter started collecting old, used sports equioment at the beginning of the school year.

These items will be donated to the Boys and Girls Clubs of America in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The tornado destruction in the area destroyed most of the sports equipment that the Clubs had in the area.

  • Oliver Gospel Mission

The chapter has selected the Columbia based, Oliver
    Gospel Mission
as one of its community service and philanthropy projects for this year.

The pledges and active members will be helping to serve meals and assist with cleaning. The members will be putting in a chapter total of between 30 to 60 service hours per week. The pledges will also put in 2 hours per person per week, working around their class schedules.

Oliver Gospel Mission, celebrating 120 years old, strives to see that the broken and homeless are sheltered, given the gospel of Jesus Christ, and equipped to live responsibly. It ministers to the community’s homeless by providing meals, shelter, and spiritual direction. The Mission is located at 1100 Taylor Street, phone (803) 254-6470.

SAE will also help the Mission with its annual golf tournament on Saturday, Sept 26 at the Columbia Country Club. In addition, members will be working in the thrift store.
